Key Definitions

Reproductive imagination- The power to reproduce images stored in memory under the suggestion of associated images.

Creative imagination- The power to produce new images directed at a specific goal or raising in the solution of problems

 

 

      I. The power of imagination: Imagining blessings when experiencing

          hardship (1 Samuel 17:32-33, 36-37)

        A. Reproduce memories- serenity to accept through seeing the

             best

        B. Solve problems- courage to change by seeing the possible

 

Serenity Prayer: “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”      -Reinhold Niebuhr 

     II. The problem of imagination: Imagining hardship when

         experiencing blessings (1 Chronicles 21:1)

          *The fear of the future is the Serenity Prayer wisdom gone haywire 

 

     III. The peace of imagination: Trust in God’s Presence and

           protection (Ephesians 3:16-19)
